CLARENCE D DELAMATER

Clarence D. Delamater, son of Oscar and Isabelle Delamater, was born in Albany, New York on Sept. 21, 1879. While on a visit in the home of his brother-in-law, Orville Lanman, at Bonaparte, Iowa, he passed away very suddenly on Monday morning, Sept. 30, 1946, at 12:15 o'clock, aged 67 years and 8 days.

When Clarence was a young man the family moved to San Diego, Calif., where he had spent the remainder of his life. He had been engaged in the grocery business, both in New York and in California, and was also an inventor of some note.

On Sept. 7, 1938, he was united in marriage to Ethel Hunter of Bonaparte, Iowa, and to this union was born one son, John Delos.

Clarence was preceded in death by his father, mother, and one brother, Frank. Surviving to mourn their loss are his wife, little son, one brother George, of San Diego, and numerous relatives and friends.

He was a member of the Broadway Seventh-Day Adventist Church of San Diego, a true Christian gentleman, and loyal to his church at all times.

Of a quiet, reserved nature, the love of his family and home came first and he was a devoted and loving husband and father, doing everything possible for the welfare of his loved ones. He loved the Scriptures, and spent much time reading them.

Such a life needs no flowery eulogy, for the perfume from memory's garden will be balm to the lonely hearts of his loved ones between the "good-night" down here and the "good-morning" up there.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, at 3:00, in the Burnett funeral home, in Keosauqua, by the pastor of the Bonaparte Methodist Church, the Rev. John S. Ellis. Interment in California.
