Mrs. W.A. Prather

Mrs. W.A. Prather, 83, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 15, at a Mitchell, S.D. hospital where she had been confined since November, 1945.

She is survived by her husband, W.A. Prather, Mitchell, S.D.; three sons, Percy, Oakland, Calif., Rodney E., Mitchell, S.D., and Frank of Sioux Fall, S.D.; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Burton and Mrs. Goldie Burton, both of Rapid City, S.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Lisa Sherrod of Keokuk, Ia. and Mrs. Amelia McCoy of Waterloo, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at the H. Noble and Son funeral chapel.

Mrs. Prather was born Oct. 20, 1865 at Winchester, Ia. She came to the Dakota territory with her husband in the early eighties and settled in LaRoche ownship, Charles Mix county, where they lived until 1920 when they moved to Mitchell, S.D.

She was a member of the Methodist church and maintained an active interest in all activities, even during the early years of an extended illness.

A family reunion was held on Mrs. Prather's last birthday, Oct. 20, attended by all the children and some of the grandchildren.
