Dolores Barker Davis

In the early dawn of June 13, the soul of Jennie Dolores Davis slipped out on the silent sea that stretches from earth to eternity. In the morning's stillness she heard the call of life everlasting. Death followed a long illness during which time her spirit, brave and patient, directed and inspired those who knew her best. During many months of pain and weakness her courage and faith never faltered.

She was the daughter of Joe and Iva Barker, born October 4, 1906, near Mt. Zion, Iowa. On April 27, 1925 she was married to Bruce Davis of Fremont, Iowa. To this union were born three daughters, Ruth Ann, June and Janet. Her brother, Loren Barker, was killed in action at Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. Most of her life was spent in and around Keosauqua. She was graduate of the Keosauqua high school and a member of the Methodist church.

She is survived by her husband; the three daughters: Mrs. LeRoy Wright, Mrs. James Wiley and Janet; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe M. Barker; one grandson, David Kent Wright; one grandmother, Mrs. Jennie F. Keck, all of Keosauqua.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Keosauqua Methodist church with the Rev. C. Hugo Orf, a former pastor officiating, assisted by Rev. E. Allen Mcgill. Music was by Keith Gaston and Mrs. Esther Arthmann. Burial was in Oak Lawn cemetery at Keosauqua.
