OBITUARIES.

MARY A. MC VITY.

Mrs. Mary A. McVity was born in Ireland, June 20, 1821, and came to American in 1840, settling in the state of New York. She was married to John McVity September 18, 1850, in Schuylersville, N.Y., and moved to Bentonsport, Iowa, in 1856. To this union were born two children, a daughter who died in childhood, and one son who died in promising young manhood. Mrs. McVity united with the Presbyterian church of Bentonsport, in 1858, and during her years of strength was a faithful attendant, respected by all her neighbors and esteemed for the qualities which made her a devoted wife and mother.

Several years ago physical infirmities made her an invalid and after the death of her husband in 1885 she made her home with a niece Mrs. William Gregson of Bentonsport, where occured her death, April 18, 1898. Funeral services occurred Wednesday afternoon April 20, Rev. A.E. Thornley officiating.
