DIED: - John D. Cook died January 27, 1896. He was born in Butler county, Ohio, November 11, 1824, being 71 years, 2 months and 16 days old at his death. He came with is parents to this county when it was a territory in 1841. Truly it can be said a good man has gone. As a citizen not a whisper of reflection was ever heard against him. He was one of those noble natures that we all love, generous and steadfast in principle. His death is not only a sad affliction to his bereaved family but to this whole community where he was so widely known and so much esteemed. He was married to Martha King in 1853, who died in 1872. Six children were born to them, three of whom are still living. In 1874 he was married to Amanda Jane Caster, his present bereaved wife. Three children were born to them, one son and two daughters, all now at home. The Cooks were a grand family of pioneers and were prominent among the early settlers in their efforts for schools and the welfare of the early colony. Here he grew to manhood, raised his large family and had been our good neighbor and friend for more than fifty-four years. Honored and trusted by all, Mr. Cook was a man who friends of all of those with whom he came in contact, a kind husband, an indulgent father, an obliging neighbor. He leaves many warm friends whose eyes will be moistened at the news of h is death.
