OBITUARY.

Died, at her home near Pittsburg, Iowa, Saturday morning, Sept. 15, 1894, Mrs. Hessie Isabella Craig, nee Browne, aged 64 years, 5 months, and 6 days. Mrs. Craig was born in West Meath county, Ireland, April 9, 1830, and came with her father's family to Keosauqua in 1847, and has resided in this vicinity since that time. She was married to her now bereaved companion, Alex. P. Craig on the 3, day of February, 1858. This union was blessed by the birth of three sons and four daughters. The three sons and three of the daughters survive to mourn the loss of devoted self sacrificing mother, and mingle their tears with the father who grieves for a loving, sympathetic wife, while the community in which she lived feels the loss of an obliging and kind neighbor, and a large circle of friends and relatives grieve the departure of a personal friend. At the age of fourteen she gave her heart and life to the service of her Maker and united with the Presbyterian church in Ireland, and later with the same organization in this country. After her marriage she was received into the United Presbyterian church then under the pastorate of Rev. McArthur, in which communion she died. Though her last sickness was of intense suffering, she bore it without a murmur and thanked God for His goodness and mercy to her, and would comfort herself with His precious promises, and often exclaimed, "I know that my Redeemer liveth. I trusted him in my life and now he does not forsake me." A short time before her voice was mingled with those by her bedside in singing the beautiful words of the 23, psalm.
