Obituary.

Mrs. Tempy, wife of John T. Jackson, died January 18, 1899, at a quarter of seven o'clock, of a complication of complaints, the one to be most dreaded being consumption. Mrs. Jackson's maiden name was Tempy Prichard. She was born January 4, 1844 near Selma, Van Buren county, Iowa. She married John T. Jackson, November 17, 1868. To them were born ten children. Three sons in infancy preceded her to that bright and happy home above. She leaves a husband, two sons and five daughters to mourn her departure, all of whom were at her beside when she passed away. She was converted and united with the M.E. church during her illness which lasted almost a year. After peace came to her she was ready to answer to her Savior's call and always expressed a desire to be at rest, and at her last moments she exhorted those around her to meet her in the home beyond. The funeral services were held in the Leando M.E. church at twelve o'clock Thursday January 19, 1899, Rev. Shane officiating. The floral tributes to the deceased were exceedingly tastfull and appropriate. A large number of people were present to attest their appreciations of the many virtues of the deceased. Of her it can truthfully be said that she was one of the most patient and self denying women that ever lived. She always studied the happiness and comforts of those around her, never seemingly considering herself. The members of J.T. Jackson's family desire this paper to express their thanks for the many acts of kindness and manifestations of sympaty(sp) and respect during the lasts illness and death of Mrs. Jackson.
