OBITUARY.

Minnie M., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ellis was born August 9, 1875 and passed away at her home about 10 o'clock Saturday evening July first. Three months ago Minnie began teaching at Pleasant Hill, her first term of school, where she won the love and respect of all her pupils and bid fair to be an excellent instructor. At the end of the second week she took cold and the dreaded disease pneumonia set in and finally settled on her lungs, after which all human aid was in vain. During her entire illness she was a patient sufferer, and would talk to her dear ones who would soon be left, and of the Savior that would give her a better home in Heaven. At school she was an exceptionally bright child, beginning in classes with those more advanced in age and at sixteen she graduated with honors from the Keosauqua high school. Although not a member of any church she was converted to christianity while attending high school, and often expressed her wish to join the Christian church. She was an active member of the Christian Endeavor an earnest worker in all church affairs and good deeds. Although in the very spring-time of her youth when she was just making her start in life many were the kind deeds performed and many were the kind words spoken, that her memory will seem lie a ray of sunlight that beamed for a moment in the darkness, but was suddenly extinguished. The funeral took place at 11 o'clock a.m. July 3, near her own home. Rev. Ethell and Robinson conducting the ceremony. A large crowd of relatives and friends assembled beneath the canopy of heaven, in nature's own temple, to pay their last sad tributes of love and respect to the earthly remains of Minnie. They laid that fair form in her evergreen home by the side of her angel sister, after which the Christian Endeavors threw in flowers as a token of love and appreciation.

Minnie has gone, and now our hearts,
Are filled with sorrow, pain and care,
We stretch our arms to greet our loved one,
A last we grasp but empty air,
She has suffered long and patient,
But now her suffering all are o'er,
She is safe from sin and sorrow
Safe with Jesus evermore.
