DIED.

In this city, on Friday, April 2d, 1875, MRS. MARY SHANE, aged 63 years.

The deceased was born in Jefferson county, Ohio, March 14th, 1812; was married on the 28th day of March 1831; was united to the M.E. church during the year 1840 from which date to the hour of her death she adhered to the christian belief and was known and recognized by all who knew her as a conscientious christian. Her residence in this city dates back to the month of April, 1858.

Mother Shane's acquaintance with the people of Van Buren county, was probably more extensive than that of any other lady in the county, having for a long list of years presided as land-lady of the Shane House, in this city. She leaves a family of grown sons and daughters to mourn her loss, whose sympathizers are our whole people - all knew Mother Shane and all loved and respected her.

Before her death she announced her readiness to depart from her life on earth, stating that she was not only ready but willing to go.

The funeral services were held at the residence of her son, Mr. J.W. SHANE, after which the remains were escorted to the cemetery by scores of our citizens from town and country.
