--The following more extended notice of the life and death of Mrs. Margaret Leech was handed us:

On Sunday night, January 22, '99 occurred the death of Mrs. Margaret Leech, one of the early settlers of Van Buren county. Margaret Bell was born at Cambridge, Guernsey county, Ohio, October 24, 1813. On February 19, 1839, she was married to William Leech, who died January 22, 1886. To them were born nine children, seven of whom are still living. She and her husband came to Iowa April 9, 1840, to the place which has ever since been her home till the time of her death. She united with the Associated Reformed church (now the United Presbyterian) at Lebanon, Ohio, at the age of 22 years, and always retained her connection with that church, she being a member of the Birmingham congregation at the time of her death. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.E. Perkins, of Keosauqua, Tuesday, and her remains were laid to rest in the Kilbourne cemetery.
