Mrs. Angeline Mitchell.

Angeline Duerr, daughter of J.H. and Phoebe Yates Duerr, was born in Miami Co., Ohio, January 22, 1839, and departed this life Thursday, October 31, 1935 at her home in Bonaparte, Iowa, aged ninety-six years, nine months and nine days.

The Duerr family emigrated from Ohio to Decatur Co., Iowa, in 1857. It was there on January 8, 1861 that Angeline was united in marriage with John S. Mitchell. One daughter, Etta, was born to this union, and remains to mourn the loss of her mother.

The husband and father enlisted in the Civil War, being a member of Company D, 4th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He died and was buried at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., March 5, 1863, aged thirty years.

Mrs. Mitchell, with her infant daughter, moved with her parents to Bonaparte, Iowa, in 1863. Since that time this has been her home.

She united with the Presbyterian church at the age of sixteen, while living in Ohio. Forty-seven years ago she transferred her membership to the Bonaparte Presbyterian church, and remained an earnest member all her days. During her years of active service she was a teacher in the Sunday School and a loyal member of the Ladies Aid.

Mrs. Mitchell was a great reader, and kept informed on questions of the day, and formed her own opinions as to passing events, even after she could no longer leave home. Her declining years were made happy by the devotion of her only daughter who, with a number of nieces and nephews, are left to mourn.

Funeral services were held in the Bonaparte Presbyterian church Saturday. the Rev. Walter Barber officiated , assisted by Rev. R.G. Alexander, with burial in the Bonaparte cemetery.
