MARY M. SIMMONS.

Mary M. Simmons was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, near Bonaparte, Sept. 20, 1860, died June 17 1897.

On Oct. 12, 1881, she was united in marriage to T.L. Simmons who survives her. During the fall of 1885 she was converted and, when in 1887 the M.E. class at Ward was organized she became a member and had continued faithful and useful in the service of her Master since. Sister Simmons will be greatly missed in her home and community, having been a devoted and loving wife and mother. Many friends mourn her loss. Having been faithful in Christian life she approached the river of death without fear, and though compelled to leave the many loved ones here whom she would gladly have stayed and helped she was refigned to the providence of her Heavenly Father, and happy to depart and be with her Lord.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."

Funeral services conducted by her pastor, Rev. H.F. Gilbert, assisted by Rev. A.E. Thornley, were held in the Ward school house, the remains being laid away in Thompson cemetery.
