DEATH OF DAVID WARNER.
Lived in Van Buren County Since 1851.

David Warner was born near Lancaster, Ohio, April 18, 1930, and died at Lebanon, this county, Dec. 16, 1908, age 78 years, seven months and 18 days.

In the spring of 1851 he came from Ohio to Iowa and settled in Van Buren county on Chequest. About 32 years ago he moved to Lebanon and continued to live there until his death, so that he resided in the same community 59 years.

On March 11, 1852, he was united in marriage to Martha Lewis. To this union were born seven children, three sons and four daughters. four of these children preceded him to the other world and three remain, Mrs. Henry Work of Lebanon, Iowa, Mr. F.K. Warner of St. John, Kan., and Mr. A.J. Warner of Milton, Iowa. His wife passed away a year ago last June. Since then he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Work.

The deceased was one of our most sturdy pioneers and having always been blessed with and unusual degree of good health, it seemed that he would be spared several years yet, but about six weeks ago he became ill. His malady did not seem to be serious until the last two weeks when all were made to realize that the end could not be far away. All was done that could be by loved ones, kind friends and fathful(sp) physician, but on Wednesday morning he quietly passed away.

Uncle David, as he was often called, will be greatly missed. He was of genial disposition, a kind neighbor and loving husband and father, ever ready to do all in his power for his loved ones.

On April 14, 1860, he united with the Congregational church and became a member of the Methodist church of Lebanon, Feb. 17, 1895. He was always at Sunday school and the church services taking an active part in them, and in his last days expressed his hope in the Savior. He looked forward with pleasure to removing in a few weeks to a new home in Eldon, but he was to take another journey to a better land.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H.F. Gilbert from the home at the Methodist church at Lebanon, Dec. 17, 1908.
