DEATH AT CANTRIL OF ESTIMABLE LADY

Mary E. Warner, oldest child of Nicholas and Elizabeth Warner, was born near Lebanon on the old Warner homestead Nov. 24th, 1849. Here she spent her girlhood days. About the year 1892 she left the home to go and make her home with her sister Mrs. Hattie N. Hilles near Cantril, and here she lived until the death of Mr. Hilles. During the ten years stay in the sister's home the brother-in-law was to her a brother true, and she was happy with them but taking pneumonia she came to the home of Mrs. Holder, the other sister, who lived in Cantril and here she has since made her stay. When Mr. Holder died Mary still remained with her sister and it was here the end came after nearly two years of suffering, Monday afternoon, Oct. 16, 1911.

Mary united with the M.E. church in Dec., 1893, during the pastorate of Rev. B.M. Boydston at Cantril. She has always been a supporter and earnest attendant of the church. Even when hardly able to be present she was often at her accustomed place.

Having never been married she devoted her life especially to her sisters and brother and church, at the same time never forgetting her many friends, particularly when needing help or sympathy. There was not anything but what she was ready to for them and during her long and painful illness she at no time forgot the welfare of her friends and church. The writer saw her about three hours before she passed away and she asked as to his health, that of his family and other friends, and said that she was doing her best to be patient.

Miss Warner was a noble woman, a sincere Christian, and a friend to all. She was a great reader and having a retentive memory was well informed.

She will be greatly missed and her place will not be one easily filled in church circles. About two years ago the illness began, but only about a year ago did her true condition become apparent. Then all was done that could be done but after great suffering for a number of weeks she had gone home to her Savior. She leaves her immediate family two sisters Mrs. Hattie N. Hilles and Mrs. A.F. Holder of Cantril, and one brother, Sam Warner of Keosauqua, Ia.

Funeral services were held in the M.E. church Wednesday at 1 p.m. Sermon by Rev. Tennant, the pastor assisted by Rev. Frost of the Disciples' church. The music was by a select choir led W.S. Jack with Bernice Saar at the piano.

Pall bearers were: Lee Swank, Geo. Hatch, C. Parks, D. Morris, Walter Miller and A. Knox. Interment was had in the Lebanon cemetery.
