Death of Jacob Ream.

Jacob Ream, brother of B.S. Ream of Pittsburg precinct, died at his home near Ottumwa, Tuesday of last week, and was buried from the First Presbyterian church, Ottumwa, Thursday afternoon. Deceased was brought up near here and was well known and highly esteemed. The following biographical sketch of Mr. Ream appeared in Wednesday's Courier:

"Jacob Ream, one of the best known and highly respected farmers of Wapello county, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at his home north of this city.

"Mr. Ream was 69 years old and had resided in Wapello county for over 30 years. He was born in Harrison county, Ohio, June 20, 1835, and at the age of four was brought to Iowa by his parents who settled in Van Buren county. In 1859 he left with a party for California, travelling overland, and for three years was engaged in ranching in the Sacramento Valley. He came to Wapello county in 1872 and in 1875 purchased the property on which he lived until the time of his death.

WAS COUNTY SUPERVISOR.

"Mr. Ream was a county supervisor for ten years and a school director for many terms. He was well known throughout the county and had hosts of friends. He was married tin California, and his wife and eight children survive him. The children are Charles, Carried, William, Malie, Nellie, John, Jennie and Goldie."

The funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon, Dr. F.E. Stoltz officiating, assisted by Rev. C. Withrow. Mr. B.S. Ream and Mr. S.C. Ream attended the funeral.
