MOSS, NEWELL, PLEASANTS, GRAHAM, BAIRD

LETTIE LEOTA NEWELL was born in Birmingham, November 23d, 1861, and died at her home in Agency, June 4th, 1897, aged 35 years, 6 months and 11 days.

She was married to Albert Moss in Birmingham, August 6th, 1877. Was the mother of three children - Ira and Claude, who survive her, and Lelia, who died January 1st, 1883. She was the oldest child of William and Belle Newell, who with her husband and two sons, four brothers, two sisters and many relatives and friends are left to mourn the sad loss.

She was an affectionate wife, a kind and indulgent mother, loved and respected by many who knew her.

Though in poor health for many years her last illness was of about two weeks duration. Friday she was thought to be much better and ate a hearty breakfast. Her husband and two sons, fearing no danger, went to work at their saw mill about three miles distant. At noon she felt as well as for several days, but about 3:30 p.m. was taken violently sick. Neighbors rendered all assistance in their power, but after intense suffering she died at 4:30. A messenger had been dispatched for the husband and sons, but he missed them, and the first intimation they had of her death was on entering the house at supper time. It was a sad blow to them. The illness that caused her death was apoplexy.

The remains were brought to Birmingham Saturday evening, to the home of her Aunt Mrs. R.W. Pleasants, the house being the same in which the deceased was born, and the funeral held from there Sunday at 2 p.m. in the presence of a large concourse, of sorrowing relatives and friends, Rev. Fraker conducting the (missing)...

Her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Newell of Lincoln Neb. four brothers, Fred Newell and wife, Crate and Croy Newell of Lincoln Neb., and Frank Newell and wife of Concordia, Kansas, and her sister Mrs. Frank Graham and child of Lincoln, Neb., were all present at the funeral. Her other sister Mrs. Nellie Baird of Lincoln, Neb., was unable to attend on account of poor health.
