JOHN M. LEE WAS KILLED.
Boiler Bursted and Scalded Him to Death.

Selma, Sept. 28. - John M. Lee was seriously scalded Thursday morning, by a stay bolt of his traction engine blowing up and letting the hot water and steam pour out upon him.

Mr. Lee was standing on the foot board of the engine, was knocked off and pinned under the front of the separator by the pressure of the steam.

He was put in a buggy and hastened to this place to the office of Dr. Gray, who with the assistance of Dr. McClure of Douds, gave him all the medical attention possible.

He was removed to Ottumwa to the hospital Friday evening, it is feared that he will not recover. he was burned so that when his clothes were removed part of the flesh came off with them.

Later - Mr. Lee died Monday morning at Ottumwa. He leaves a wife, one brother and one sister to mourn their loss. He was a devout Christian, being a member of the Free Methodist church at Bethel, south west of Leando, for a number of years. He was the owner of the old home farm in Chequest.
