John M. Burrier.
John M. Burrier, son of John and Pricilla Burrier, was born in Muskingum Co., Ohio, March 13th, 1839. He came to Van Buren Co., Iowa, near Farmington, with his parents when two years of age. He was married to Mary J. Slaughter on the 16th day of April 1865 and settled on a farm in Clark Co., Mo. To this union were born seven children two of whom, Mrs. Alice Wolfe and Charles Gilbert, infant, have preceded him in death. Those living are Webster 0. and Miss Nora at home, Mrs. Abbie Neff of LaJara, Colorado, Mrs. Flora Robinson, Bonaparte, Iowa, and Mrs. Julia Hall of Tacoma, Washington. Besides these children he leaves to mourn their loss his wife with whom he has walked the path of life for 51 years, one sister, Mrs. Julia Varner of Keosauqua, Iowa, six grandchildren, his nephews, nieces and many friends. He united with the Baptist church at Bethlehem, Mo., in early man hood and has been a consistent believer in his Savior throughout his life which he departed the 16th of November, 1916, aged 77 years, 8 months and 3 days. His last sickness was of a short duration, but he was cheerful and patient to the last. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. A. Nelson of the Farmington Baptist church, Saturday, Nov. 18, 1916, at eleven o'clock at, Acasto. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
