WEBSTER OWEN BURRIER
Webster Owen Burrier, first born of John M. Burrier and Mary Jane Schlaughter Burrier was born near Chambersberg, Clark county, Mo., on Oct. 12, 1866, and passed away at his home in same county on May 9, 1943, at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 3 days.
He was united in marriage to Alice Stewart of Anson, Mo., on Nov. 9, 1901. To this union was born one son Arnold Burrier, who preceded his father in death, having passed to eternity on April 2, 1938. The wife and mother had passed on Nov. 9, 1902. Also he was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.Of his family remaining in this life are two grandchildren, Edward and Barbara Burrier; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Hall of Kelso, Wash., Mrs. Flora Cummings of Bonaparte, Iowa, and Mrs. Nora Barbara Burrier, a close companionable sister in the home.
Mr. Burrier accepted the Christian faith, taking Christ as his leader sometime during the year 1900, and joined in the fellowship of the Congregational church at Anson. He was faithful in all things and he gave unreservedly his time and labor to his family and neighbors.
He loved nature and all living creatures and gave to them kindly compassion. All his life he was a profound thinker and avid reader of historical and political events. Throughout his life he has made many friends and was highly respect by all who knew him.
The funeral service was held in the Union Chapel at Acasto, Mo., on May 13, 1943, conducted by Rev. C. C. Swalwell. He was carried to his resting place in the adjoining cemetery by his devoted friends, Earl Enderweisen, Elmer Arnold, Harvey Sullivan, Ernest Newman, John Kutcher, and Eugene Jenkins.
