MARY JANE BURRIER
(Keokuk Gate City)Mary Jane Burrier, age 83, died at her home near Acasto Monday night. She was the daughter of Samuel Slaughter and the grand daughter of Joseph Norris. The latter was one of the first pioneers who located east of Farmington in Lee county. Mary Jane Slaughter was born Feb.12, 1843, and grew to womanhood northeast of Farmington, She was married to John Madison Burrier April 7, 1865, and they located on farm in Clark county, Missouri.
In 1878 they moved to the farm from near Acasto. Mr. Burrier died nine years ago. Mrs. Burrier spent the last years of her life surrounded by her son, Webster, and daughter, Miss Nora. For ten years she has been almost blind, and for the past five years crippled by rheumatism.
The following children survive: W. 0. Burrier and Nora B., at the old home; Mrs. Will Neff of Conejos county, Colo.; Mrs. James Cummings of Bonaparte, and Mrs. Charles Hall of Tacoma, Wash.
Funeral services were held at Acasto, Thursday at 2 p m.
