Pitkin Morris

Pitkin Morris was born on Feb. 5, 1880 near Stockport, Iowa, the son of Henry T. and Sallie Ann Spencer Morris, who were then living on the Henry and Jane Morris farm, the early pioneers of Cedar township. At the age of five he moved with is parents and brothers to a farm southwest of the ancestral home, and had lived there continuously for 72 years.

Pitkin was a Spanish-American War veteran, Co. K, 20th U.S. Infantry.

Death came to him at 7:10 a.m. June 6th, 1957, at the age of 77 years and four months.

He leaves to mourn their loss three brothers, John H. and Arthur of Stockport and Elmer R. of Chicago, Ill. Also several nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Frank, William, Charles and Sherman preceded him in death; also two nephews, Phil C. Morris and Edgar H. Morris.

Pitkin who lived past the three score and ten was a personage to be long remembered by his near relatives and many friends.

Grave side services were held at 2 p.m., June 8, 1957 at the Spencer Cemetery, with the Rev. Morehouse and the Elvin Cecil Post of the American Legion in charge of the services.
