OBITUARY

CATHERINE FRANCES ANSON

Catherine Frances Simmons, daughter of Robert and Agnes Batchelor Simmons, was born in Cincinnati, Ia., April 17, 1873, and passed away at Bonaparte, Ia. Nov. 22, 1956, at the age of 83 years, seven months and five days.

When only a few months of age, Kate (as she was known to her family and friends) moved with her parents to a farm on Vernon Prairie, near Bonaparte.

On Jan. 24, 1893 she was united in marriage to Orin A. Anson. They started their wedded life on a farm near Keosauqua in a new home. This was their home for 58 happy, prosperous years together, until her husband passed away Jan. 1st, 1951. To this union were born two sons: Alva William and Charlie Robert, both of Keosauqua.

Kate is survived by her sons, their wives, and five grandchildren: Marilyn M. Barkalow, Webster, Wisc.; William Charles Anson, Hiawatha, Ia., Mary Jane Anson and Richard Parish Anson, both of Denver, Colo. and Eleanor Joy Smith, Pacoima, Calif., and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and only brother, Earl Simmons.

While a young girl, she united with the Story Chapel M.E. Church, later transferred her membership to the Keosauqua Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Lynds Chapter Order Eastern Star, Keosauqua.

Funeral services were held at the Burnett-Catcott Funeral home, Keosauqua, on Sunday at 2 p.m. Nov. 25, Rev. John Ballensky in charge. Burial in Center Chapel cemetery.
