Samson Mankin died at his home two miles northeast of Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Sept 27, 1900. The deceased was born in Ohio, March 9, 1830, and was married to Miss Lucretia Bushong, Sept 27, 1862.
They came to Iowa (near where he died) in 1876. They were blessed with eight children, all of whom, except one, survive. He leaves also his wife. They do not sorrow without hope. He was a faithful member of the Chrisian church, and lived an exemplary life.
The funeral was from the Christian church at Mt. Sterling at 11 o'clock, am, Sept 20, 1900 conducted by Elder. T. A. Renirt his former pastor, assisted by Eld. Greer, their present pastor.
The interment was in the Harness cemetery. The large attendance at the funeral attested the high esteem in which he was held. That the good Lord will comfort the hearts of the bereaved family is our earnest prayer.
