THORNTON, SHAMBLING, WELLER, BOITSCHA, WILSON

JOHN W. THORNTON

John W. Thornton, son of Alexander and Jane Thornton, was born June 1, 1880 at La Crew, in Lee county, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Hillsboro Friday morning, Sept. 12.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maggie Thornton (formerly Maggie Shamblin) and one son, Claude Thornton of Fairfield and three daughters, Mrs. Laurence (Clara) Weller of Winfield, Mrs. Alex (Roberta) Boitscha and Nora Thornton, of Hillsboro; one sister, Mrs. Joe Wilson. Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Last rites were held Sunday afternoon in the Hillsboro Baptist church, in charge of O.T. Wilson of Mt. Pleasant assisted by Rev. Skoglund. Mrs. Vinton Hoaglin furnished the piano music. Bearers were Elmer Johnson, Fred Duncan, John Fleming, Paris Loving, Charlie Schau and Burch Boley. Burial in Hillsboro cemetery.
