Charles W. Gaston

Charles W. Gaston, 89, 215 Avenue G, died at 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, June 9, in Veterans Hospital, Iowa City. He had been in failing health for several months seriously ill for one week.

He was born May 19, 1892 and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a former guard at the Shaeffer Pen Co. and had worked as an automobile refinisher and maintenance engineer at Hesses and Sons Clothing Store. He was of the Methodist faith. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Senior Citizens and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by three brothers. His parents were Charles W. and Johanna Gaston.

Funeral services were be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Friends may call at the Barr chapel after noon Thursday.
