Martha Beashor Gaston, daughter of David and Anna Beashor, was born near Centerville, Iowa, July 8, 1857, and departed this life June 4, 1933, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.E. Elliott of Donnellson, her age being 75 years, 10 months and 26 days.

On March 1, 1882, she was united in marriage with John Gaston of Bentonsport. They made their home near Beatrice, Neb., for eight years, after which they returned to Iowa, locating on a farm south of Bentonsport where they resided until the time of Mr. Gaston's death, December 27, 1928.

Their home will be remembered by a host of friends for their genuine hospitality and good will always extended. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Gaston, three surviving to mourn their loss, they being Mrs. Cora Elliott of Donnellson, David Gaston and Mrs. Anna McDonald of Cantril, two sons dying in infancy.

She was a true and devoted mother to one stepson, Theodore, who died in 1915. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She suffeered(sp) a broken arm two years ago last Dec. 24 and her general health has been on the decline ever since as she never fully recovered from the shock. She had been confined to her bed the last twenty-one days of her life, becoming weaker and weaker but not seeming to suffer pain.

She was a true and faithful member of the United Brethren church since the age of seventeen years. Her life had been one of loving service, never shirking her duty as she saw it to all those needing help or loving kindness. Truly it may be said her: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord."

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the Elliott home in Donnellson and at 2:30 at Center Chapel near her old home, Rev. Paul Apfel officiating. Interment at Center Chapel cemetery.
