Mrs. Ben Martin

Daisy Mae Thompson, daughter of D.L. and Martha Thompson, was born near Cantril May 15, 1879, and passed away at her home in Milton Jan. 26, 1941.

She was united in marriage to Harvey Scalf Dec. 7, 1897. To this union were four children, Carson, who died in infancy, Mrs. Paul Leaverton, who passed away Dec. 6, 1930, Garland, who died June 12, 1933, and Edgar, who survives her passing. Mrs. Scalf passed away Nov. 29, 1929. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one step son and four step daughters.

On May 13, 1933, she was united in marriage to Ben F. Martin, who survives her. She also has three living sisters, Carrie Harbin of Ottumwa, Alta Drummond of Memphis, Mo., and Alice Houlhan of Milton.

When a young woman she united with the Christian church, later transferring her membership to the Methodist church.

Funeral services were held at the Milton Christian churh(church) at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, in charge of Rev. A.M. Hadley. Burial was in the Sunnyside cemetery at Milton.
