Monte Roberts

Monte Roberts, son of Oscar and Mary Ann Roberts, was born June 7, 1878, near Cantril. He spent most of his life near Cantril. He was known for his friendliness and kindliness was a good neighbor and his friendly exchange of wit and humor will be missed by his friends.

On March 13, 1904, he was united in marriage to Maude Stewart. To this union were born three sons, Thurman of Lance Creek, Wyoming, Roland of Louisville, Ky., and Claire of Glendale.

Mr. Roberts was converted, confessed Christ and was baptized into the Christian faith under the ministry of Herbert Shaw. Though he never united with any denomination his loyalty and faithfulness to the cause of Christ, his attendance at worship services were a contribution to life that are to be commended.

Mr. Roberts went home to his Saviour on April 9, at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 2 days.

He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, three sons, three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Cassie Hoskin of Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Frank and Willis of Cantril, Roy of Bonaparte, and Lester of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Mr. Roberts was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services sere held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church in charge of the pastor, Jay. N. Waterman. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. J. Hurwitz, Mrs. J. Hootman, Benj. Casady and Keith Gaston, accompanied by Mrs. R. Cretcher sang two numbers, and Mr. Gaston sang a solo.
