WILLA KERR STRAIT

Willa Kerr Strait, daughter of James and Elizabeth Beggs Kerr, was born April 8, 1889 near Douds, Iowa and passed away at the Van Buren County Memorial hospital on Friday, May 8, 1959.

She lived with her parents until her marriage to Garfield Strait on March 4, 1914. She made her home with her husband and family on their farm near Pittsburg Ia., for nearly 45 years. In November 1958, they retired and moved to their home in Keosauqua.

To this union were born three daughters and one son. One daughter passed away at birth. Mrs. Strait is survived by her husband, Garfield; her daughters, Mrs. Beryl Sherod of Birmingham and Mrs. Jeanette Taylor of Keosauqua and her son, Rex of Keosauqua. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one brother, Rex Kerr of Keosauqua. One brother, Glen of Milton preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Keosauqua Methodist church, Women's Society of Christian Service and the Kilbourn Ladies Aid.

Her love and devotion were of her family and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10 at the Keosauqua Methodist church in charge of the Pedrick Funeral home. Officiating was the pastor of the church, the Rev. John A. Nye. Interment was in the Pittsburg cemetery.
