ALLAN H. HEATON.

Allan H. Heaton, the youngest of the family of nine children of Elia and Margaret Heaton, was born at Big Mound, Iowa, July 14th, 1862 and died January 18th, 1924. He was born on the old homestead and lived there continuously all of his life.

On February 5, 1902, he was married to Miss Katie McCutcheon of Bentonsport, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters, Jacob, Mary Ann Watts, John, Sarah Pickard and is survived by his wife, brothers, Elmore of Bronson, Kansas, Theodore and Aaron of Hillsboro, Iowa, and George of Greeley, Nebraska.

He was a kind and loving husband. He had no children but made a home for Roy Mallum for several years until he was able to do so himself, who now is living in Kansas. He also made a home for Alvin Powell who was in the world war aad died from the effects of wounds received there by.

He had been in poor health for several years and had said that he thought he had felt better the last month than he had for some time. Doing his work as usual and went to bed as usual about nine o'clock, seeming all right. About 10:30 he made an unusual movement which called his wife's attention, who got him some water but he passed away in a few minutes without a word or struggle.

He was a kind neighbor and was always ready to help, especially in time of sickness. His parents were pioneers of Lee county where they settled in 1852. He was a relative of a historical family, being a relative of Betty Ross and was much interested in collecting data sketches photos and narratives of their pioneer struggles. He was known during his entire life, especially in his own community, as the soul of honor.

He was a member of the Hillsboro Iowa, I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 37, which had charge of the funeral service. The Rev. Pritchard of Libertyville, Iowa, delivered the sermon.

His father died April 26, 1899, and his mother, July 4, 1908.

His brother of Greeley, Mo., his niece Mrs. Myrtle Hughes and husband of Allerton, Iowa, and Claude son of Elmore Heaton of Bronson, Kansas, attended the funeral.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 o'clock at Sharon where he was buried.
