OBITUARY

Joseph Hirons passed away at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Hirons, in Edwardsburg, July 12, 1917, aged 78 years 8 months and 6 days.

Mr. Hirons was born in Van Buren County Iowa, Sept. 6, 1838. When but a small boy he came to Michigan with his parents and settled until the spring of 1871, when he moved to Sumner county, Kansas. After his return he was married to Miss Victoria Smith, of Ontwa township, who survives him and was with him when he passed away. To this union was born two sons, one of whom died July 10, 1871. The surviving son, Charles, was born Edwardsburg, Mich., in the house now occupied by Edward Hirons, but is now a resident of Milan, Kan. He arrived in Edwardsburg but a few hours before his father's death. He also leaves three brothers and one sister - John Hirons of Laport, Ind.; Edward Hirons and Mrs. Elizabeth Weaver, of Edwardsburg, and Charles Hirons of San Diego, Cal.

On the 29th of June, Mr. Hirons and wife arrived here from Farmington, Iowa, for a visit with relatives and friends, but was (then) to his bed soon after his arrival, and rapidly grew until death ended his sufferings.

The funeral was held Friday forenoon, at 10:30 o'clock, Rev. Tench officiating, and the burial took place in the Edwardsburg cemetary.
