Dale O. Canaday, son of Fred and Della Hendricks Canaday, was born February 7, 1913 near Birmingham and died Thursday evening, August 15, 1991 at Jefferson County Hospital, Fairfield at the age of 78.

He married Marietta Kimmel on July 27, 1935 at the Bonapart Methodist Church and lived his married life in Selma where he operated a television and appliance repair shop.

He was a memeber of Selma United Methodist Church and had been active in Van Buren Lodge No. 350, Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Selma. He was a musician and played the violin and drums for dances and other entertainments.

Surviving are his wife, Marietta; three daughters, Kay Berg of rural Brighton, Della Carder of Batavia, and Dixie Kinseth of Cedar Rapids; a son, Gary of Marion; eight grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Donald of Newton and Howard Eugene of Loveland, Colorado.

Dale was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janice Marie; a grandson, Richard Fiedler; a sister Caribell Mathias; and a brother, Van.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 12 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Reverand Michael Druhl officiating. Internment was in Iowaville Cemetery near Selma.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
