GEORGE WALKER ALEXANDER

George Walker Alexander, son of Harvey and Lucinda Alexander, who was born near Bonaparte, Van Buren County Iowa, on March 8, 1856 and passed away at the Hospital at Mt. Pleasant at 9:30 last Sunday morning January 20, 1924 at the age of 67 years 10 months and 12 days.

Mr. Alexander had been in failing health for the past 18 months, caused from hardening of the arteries and heart trouble.

On August 20, 1877 he was united in marriage to Josephine Godown and to this union were born 13 children, four of them preceded him in death. Two dying in infancy, Mrs. Stella Cass who died July 6, 1922, and Clyde who died August 13, 1923.

He leaves to mourn his wife and nine children. Charles H. of Ottumwa, Iowa, Manley M., Joseph A., George W., and Livingston M. of Stockport, Iowa; Mrs. Jessie Perkins of Marengo, Ohio; Blanch Cass of Bentonsport, Iowa; Mrs. Effie Cross of Farmington, Iowa; and Mrs. Nellie Cross of Fort Madison, Iowa.

Three brothers, Thomas of Dungress, Washington; Frank of Brookpark, Minn., General of Simpson, Kansas.

25 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and a large circle of friends who deeply mourn his passing away.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Stockport Methodist Church, and were conducted by C.J. Bowles with interment in the Holswarth Cemetery.
