Obituary

Franklin, son of Francis and Irene Allen was born in Ross county Ohio on September 12 1842, and passed away November 4 1919, aged 77 years 1 month 23 days. He came with his parents to Iowa while a boy. In the year of 1868 ou(sp) July 25 he was united in marriage to Miss Deborah Singleton who survives him, to this nnion(sp) were born 13 childreu, one died in infancy, leaving 12 childre namely Will Allen of Mt. Sterling, Ia. Lula Wollam of Shridan Lake Colo. Jennie Park of Farmington Ia., Frank Allen of Montrose Ia., James Allen of Flemiug, Colo., Anna Curry of Cascoe, Ark. Dan Allen of Mt. Sterling; Ia. Alta Steeples of Granger, Mo. Alma Schmidt of Farmington, Ia. Artie Heath of Farmington, Ia.

He also left 18 grand children and one great grand child and one sister Mrs. J.F. Farris of Keokuk, Ia. His children were present when the death angle summoned him to a better home.

When the civil war began he enlisted on August 6th 1862 serving 3 years. Aithough he had never united with any church, in his last days of suffering he found great relief in prayer, and requested that his family meet him iu heaven.

Funeral services were couducted in the home on Friday, November 7 by the Rev. G.H. Smith, M.E. pastor of Farmington assisted by the Rev. L.V. Brown of Mt. Sterling, Ia.

The singers were Mr. and Mrs. James Dill, Mrs. Edgar Mosher and Rev. Brown, all of Mt. Sterling. Interment was made in Farmington cemetery.
