Obituary of Amanda Ellen Hootman

Amanda Ellen Maxwell was born Dec. 6, 1873. She was a daughter of Sloan and Laura Maxwell, who lived at the time of her birth near Kilbourne. She was married to Chester Hootman in 1892, to this union were born four children. Three of them Rex, Lucille and Ervin have gone before her to welcome her coming. Ira joined the U.S.A. army and is somewhere in France. She died Feb. 28, 1919, at her home north of Mt. Zion. She joined church in 1905, and has been identified with the Presbyterian church ever since. She was social and friendly to all and this community has suffered a great loss in giving her up. But our loss is gain, "For me to live is Christ, but to die is gain."
