Death of Sloan Maxwell.

Sloan Maxwell, son of Robert and Sarah Davis Maxwell, was born in Ohio, Oct. 11, 1846, died Sept. 27, 1916. Had he lived until Oct. 11 he would have been 70 years old. His parents, who were born in Ireland, emigrated to this county. He was one of a family of four children, all of whom have preceded him in death except one sister, Mrs. Cynthia Buckmaster. He was married to Laura Isabel Carr April 7, 1870. To this union were born eight children. One son Eddie died April 3d, 1881. His companion was called to the better land March 6, 1910, and Charles, April 7, 1912. Robert and Mrs. Bertha Gilbert, who reside near Kilbourne, Mrs. Ella Hootman and Mrs. Salome Ewing, of Mt. Zion, Mrs. Retta Glasgow, of Eldon and Mrs. Ray Martin, of near Douds, survive. Besides his children who mourn the death of an affectionate father, his sister who mourns a loving brother, there are a host of relatives and friends who regret the departure of a kind and obliging friend and neighbor. Funeral services were held at his late home Sept. 28, conducted by Rev. J.J. Brabbs, former pastor of the M.E. church at Kilbourne. Burial was at Kilbourne.
