Mrs. Alma Skinner.

Alma Jane, oldest child of Clark ?. and Emma Jane Johnston, was born at Lebanon, Iowa, December 12(?), 1877, and departed this life at the Jefferson County hospital at 4:30 o'clock Sunday morning, Jan. 23rd, 1938. Her age was 60 years, ??months and 12 days.

She was one of a family of nine children. She had been in failing health for some months but her condition did not become serious until two weeks ago when she was taken to the hospital where everything that could be, was done.

She was married to Dick Skinner, March 16, 1910. To this union, was gorn(born) one son, Lloyd George. She was the mother of three children by a previous marriage, Mrs. Gertrude Harper of Chehalis, Washington, Mrs. Eva Stagers of Richland, Iowa; a son, Johnston, passed away in 1908. Her father, Clark H. Johnston, a sister Eva E. and brother, Mark D., also preceder(err) her in death. The brother, Harry B., passed away at the State hospital at Iowa City, January 23, 1938, less than 24 hours after her passing.

The surviving relatives are her husband, son Lloyd George, daughters Gertrude and Eva, two step-daughters, Ethel Gilbert of Birmingham, Hal Barker of Mt. Zion, four grand-children, Mrs. Herbert Clark, Donna, Robert and Richard Stagers; her mother, Mrs. Emma Johnston of Lebanon; a sister, Mrs. Florence Robertson of California. Her brothers, Craig, Lloyd and Earl of Lebanon and Fern of Birmingham, and many other for one who was always kind and thoughtful of others.

She was a member of the M.E. church and was seldom absent from services. She was a member of the Ladies Aid. Mrs. Skinner could always be depended on to support any worthy cause for the betterment of the community. She will be sadly missed.

Funeral services were held at the Kilbourne M.E. church, Jan. 25th, at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. J.C. Austin in charge. Floyd Williams and John Wilson sang, with Mrs. Martha Stong as pianist.

Casket bearers were Sam Catcott, Wallace Plowman, Peter Oosthoek, Lee Piper, Gilbert Mercer, Emmet Gilbert. She was placed to rest in the family lot in the Kilbourne cemetery.
