Dorothy Rose Unkrich

Dorothy Rose Unkrich, 90, of Birmingham died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Birmingham United Methodist Church in Birmingham with the Rev. Reva Rimmer officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.

Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Open visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Birmingham United Methodist Church or the activity fund at the Good Samaritan Center.

Mrs. Unkrich was born Feb. 11, 1910, at home in Union Township, near Birmingham, the daughter of Ezra and Esther Bonnett Williams. She married Charles L. Unkrich April 23, 1933, at her parents' home. He died in April 1965.

She attended rural school and Parsons College. She taught at rural schools east of Birmingham in the Bonnett and East Union schools.

She was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, Bonnett Community Club, East Union Ladies Aide and United Methodist Women Aide. She taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir, and had been a cook at the Birmingham school.

Survivors include four sons, Carroll and Steve Unkrich, both of Birmingham, Dick Unkrich of Fairfield and Herbert Unkrich of Edwards, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Arthur of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one granddaughter.
