Charles D.L. Parker

Charles D.L. Parker, 72, of Douds, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at home.

A funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 14841 Ferris, Douds 52551.

Mr. Parker was born April 12, 1941, in East Prairie, Mo., the son of Charles Parker and Vesta Vaughn. He married Yevonne Thomas. He married Evelyn Haynes March 4, 1976. She died Jan. 13, 1991. He married Kathy Riley Aug. 4, 1999.

He had been a logger and was a self-employed trucker.

He taught truck driving at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; four sons, Charles Parker of East Prairie, Mo., Donald Joel Parker of Fairfield and Derek Haynes and Alan Riley both of Douds; four daughters, Melodie Parker of Glenwood, Michelle Parker of East Prairie and Angela Gire and Cassie Mann both of Douds; 17 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Cecil Roberts in Texas, Carl Roberts in Missouri and Don Roberts of Milan, Ill.; and four sisters, Jewel Clark, Edna Elliott and Leavida Willis all in Missouri and Helen McRoy in Kentucky.

In addition to his second wife, Evelyn, he was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Monica Parker.
