Shirley A. Norris

Shirley A. Norris, 82, of Birmingham, died Monday morning, Nov. 4, 2002, at her home.

The body has been cremated. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, with the Rev. Michael D. Renken officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Birmingham Lions Club or Birmingham United Methodist Church.

Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Norris was born March 20, 1920, in Birmingham, the daughter of Pearl and Mary Grammer Smith. She married Jay Norris Nov. 10, 1945, Ottumwa. He died May 10, 1990.

Mrs. Norris was a lifetime resident of Birmingham. She was employed at Universal Producing Company. She then worked in the housekeeping departments at Parkview Care Center and Jefferson County Hospital.

She was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Love and husband Laverne of Washington, Iowa, and Barbara Unkrich and husband Carroll of Birmingham; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ella Reed and Mildred Channel, both of Libertyville; and one brother, Robert Smith of Birmingham.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Rolland Smith; and one sister, Bernice Collins.
