Obituary of Mrs. T.G. McClure.

Ella R. Crawford, daughter of Dr. James and Candas Crawford, was born January 20, 1857, at Business Corner, Iowa. She departed this life at her home in Douds, Iowa, February 23, 1922, aged 65 years, 1 month and 3 days.

She was married to Dr. T.G. McClure, October 8, 1882. To this union was born one son, Clare Crawford, of Mason, S.D. She lesves(sp) to mourn their loss a husband, son, two brothers, Walter D. of San Raphal, Cal., James G. of Moberly, Mo., and also a host of friends. Most of her life was spent in and about Douds.

She was taken to the Ottumwa hospital April 13, 1920, and was operated on and was able to return to her home May 26. From that time on she seemed to regain her lost strength and was able to perform her household duties, and in September made a trip to South Dakota to visit her son, but in July the next summer was taken ill, and August 5th was again taken to an Ottumwa hospital, where another operation was performed with but little hopes of her being able to leave the hospital, but to the surprise of doctors and friends she slowly regained strength enough to be removed to her home September 10. Her one great desire was to see her home and friends once again, and said all she would ask was to be permitted to spend the winter with her family as much as her suffering would permit. Mrs. McClure will be sadly missed. Her home, her family and her friends were dear to her, and during the two years of her sickness and suffering she was always patient, cheerful and resigned, while loving hands ministered to her every need. So ended a good life.

The short funeral services were conducted by Rev. Chas. L. Ellis, at the home, Saturday afternoon, at 1:30, Feb. 25, 1922. The remains were taken to the Zion Lutheran cemetery, northeast of Douds, for burial.
