Obituary of Ivan Eugene Nichols

Ivan Eugene, son of Almond and Isabel Nichols, was born near Stockport, Iowa, July 14, 1920, and passed away Jan. 20, 1921, at the same place, aged 18 months and 6 days. The cause of his death was unknown. It was thought at the time it was diphtheria, but later events proved that it was not. However a private burial was made at Pittsburg, near relatives who have gone on before. Rev. Caughlan of the Methodist church Keosauqua held a brief ceremony at the grave. Little Ivan was a dear, lovable baby and he bore his illness with patience although his suffering was intense. He will be sadly missed by parents, relatives and friends. Indeed, the home without the childish voice and the pattering feet is almost unbearable to the bereaved parents. His stay on earth was a wonderful joy to them and they are thankful that God gave him to them, if only for a short time.

The of mother of little Ivan will be remembered as Miss Belle Stotsbery, lately of Keosauqua.
