Mrs. A.H. Mounce

Ida May Cross, youngest daughter of James W. and Rebecca Ann Cross, was born in Benton county, Iowa, May 19, 1879, and departed this life at her home in Keosauqua, Iowa, in the early morning of March 21, 1925, aged 45 years, 10 months and 2 days. She grew to womanhood in Center Point, Linn county, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to Arthur H. Mounce, on December 23, 1896. To this union were born four children, Rex, of Donnellson, Iowa, and Roy, Merle, and Lona Marguerite, all living at home. In addition to her husband and four children, she leaves to mourn her death two sisters, Mrs. Chas. C. Roy and Miss Emma Cross, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one brother, David Cross of Urbana, Io., and two grandchildren, Hollis and Keith Mounce of Donnellson, Iowa. One sister, Cora, preceded her in death by about one year.

When a young girl she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Center Point. After her marriage she and her husband located on a farm near Kilbourne where they resided six years. They then moved to Polk county, Missouri, coming back to Van Buren county in 1908. In 1912 they moved to Keosauqua which place has since been their home.

Mrs. Mounce was an active and faithful member of the M.E. church at this place, and a member of the church choir. She was a faithful and loving wife and a devoted mother to her children, and no task was too great for her to undertake in their behalf, as the writer of this, who was her companion for more than 28 years, can testify. A good and noble woman has passed to her Eternal Home.

"Peace to her Ashes."

Funeral services conducted by Rev. J.C. Caughlan of Danville, Iowa, assisted by Rev. Paul S. Apfel, present pastor here, and a male quartet, were held at the Keosauqua M.E. church Sunday, March 22, and the body was laid to rest in the Purdom cemetery.
