Obituary

Martha Juanita Pool was born July 4, 1911, in the White Chapel district, Lick Creek township, Van Buren county, has always lived there, and died April 28, 1929, at the Ottumwa hospital. She was taken to the hospital about six weeks before her death because of a leg infection thought to have resulted from a fall on the ice. The trouble did not yield to treatment but developed blood poisoning which caused death. She was a graduate of the White school and a faithful member of the Oak Grove Free Methodist Sunday school. She was always cheerful and had a smile for everyone. Her large circle of relatives and friends was indicated by the number at the funeral and the many beautiful flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Rilla Pool and five brothers and four sisters, Mrs. Jessie Schleeter, Joseph, Wilson, Erma, Roscoe, Collin, Robert, Caroline and Mary Esther Pool. The bearers were Harlan Dugger, James Hootman, Lester Hootman, Leslie McLain, Joshua Reniker, Arthur Schlarbaum. Bernice Behner and Mrs. W.R. King sang, "Thy Will Be Done," and "Sometime We'll Understand," at the service which was held April 30, at the Zion Lutheran church by Rev. W.R. King. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
