Death of Frank W. Oatman

Until about 10 years ago Frank W. Oatman and family resided at Mt. Zion where he was held in high esteem by his acquaintances. From there he moved with is family to Mt. Pleasant, where he died Monday morning, June 20, 1921, following a brief sickness. Mr. Oatman had for a long time been an employee of the Iowa Wesleyan College and had been in his usual health and attended to his duties up to Saturday evening. About 8 o'clock that evening he took suddenly sick. A physician was at once called and pronounced his trouble apoplexy. Everything possible was done for him but death came on Monday, two days later. The deceased was born in Woodburn county, Ill., April 8, 1856. He came to Iowa when a young man, and settled in Van Buren county, where he married Miss Anna Hunter, Sept. 25, 1881. Three children were born to them, Mrs. Bert Starr of Keosauqua, Charles of Wichita, Kan., and Sherman, who was in California when his father died. These children along with the wife, survive to mourn a loving husband and father. The funeral was held at the college chapel on Friday, June 24, being delayed until that time awaiting the arrival of the son from California. Burial was in the Forest Home Cemetery at Mt. Pleasant.
