Frances Marie Lunsford, 87, of Wyaconda, MO, died October 31, 2002, in the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

The daughter of Frank and Alma L. (Preter) McLeland, she was born on November 22, 1914, in rural Milton, IA.

On October 8, 1935, she was married to Sampson Lunsford of Cantril, IA, in Moberly, MO. To this union one son, Thomas Earl, was born.

Frances was baptized in the Christian faith at an early age. She was an active member of the Disciples of Christ Church of Wyaconda, MO and the CWF fellowship of the church. She was also a past deaconess of the church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, step-father, husband, stepbrother, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her son, Thomas Lunsford of Knoxville, IA; two grandsons, Tom Lunsford, Jr. of Knoxville, IA, and Randy Lunsford and wife, Lori of Knoxville, IA; a great-grandson, Matthew Lunsford of Knoxville, IA; one sister, Helen M. Shibley and husband, John of Freeport, IL; one nephew, H. Gene McLeland and wife, Wanda of rural Macon, MO; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held November 2, 2002, in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Special music was provided by Arleta Dye, pianist. Serving as pallbearers were Sandy Hardy, Don McLeland, Curt McLeland, Chuck McLeland, Randy Lunsford, and Tom Lunsford, Jr. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton, IA. Memorials have been suggested to the Wyaconda Christian Church or to the Scotland County Care Center. Arrangements were handled by Gerth Funeral Service.
