Herbert B. Doud, son of Owen and Inez Duffield Doud, was born July 29, 1910, near Keosauqua, and departed this life Sunday, Dec. 21, 1980 at Van Buren Hospital in Keosauqua, at age 70.

He lived a number of years in Galesburg, Illinois and in western states and returned to Van Buren County ten years ago, residing in the past several years near Mt. Sterling. He was an auctioneer, a veteran of World War II, and an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his widow, Marilyn, a son, Steven of Ft. Knox, Ky., a daughter, Cheri Naugle of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, three stepsons, Donald Daugherty, Birmingham, Clifford Daugherty, Truro, and Teddy Daugherty, Mt. Sterling and a foster daughter, Penny Feagin, Clute, Texas, and 12 grandchildren. Also survivng are his mother of Keosauqua, a sister, Margaret Davis, and two brothers, Carl and Ralph, all of Keosauqua, another brother, Kenneth, of Moravia, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 26, 1980, at Patrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Interment will be in Pittsburg Cemetery.
