Clement B. Miller was born near Bloomingburgh, New York, April 16, 1845. On Nov. 6, 1867, he was united in marriage with Carrie Collard, who survives him, and to them were born four children: Elbert C. of Hillsboro, Van Buren County, Iowa, Mrs. Emma Henry of Cope, Colorado, Mrs. Mary Davis of near Keosauqua, Iowa, and Mr. Anna Hanan of Yuma, Colorado.
For many years they made their home near Center Chapel in Van Buren County, Iowa. He was a farmer, but did much work at the carpenter trade, many buildings of that vicinity bearing his handiwork.
He had recently been making his home with his children, and about two weeks before his death had gone to Colorado to visit his daughter, Mrs. Hanan, at whose home he died on March 18, 1916.
The remains were brought to Center Chapel for funeral services and interment, Rev. G.W. Barber of Muscatine, Iowa, officiating. Mr. Barber is a great friend of the family, the friendship beginning when Mr. Barber was a young preacher in 1882 when Center Chapel was a part of his charge.
