SELMA-Clair Ripley, 75, a long-time resident here, died at his home this morning.

A retired mechanic, he had operated garages at Selma and Douds. He was born Aug. 2 1892 near Buffalo Prairie, IL the son of Henry and Ida Seivers Ripley. He married Mabel Milam in Ottumwa Feb. 1, 1922.

Surviving are his widow; six sons, George of Denver, Henry of Perry, Clair Jr., of Waukegan, Ill., and James, Robert and Donald, who are in the Navy; six daughters, Ida Shriver of Sewal, Rosetta Wright of Burlington, Beulah Keast of St. Catherine's, Ont., Darlene Bradfield of Agency, and Ann J. Murray and Betty Gatlin of Ottumwa; 44 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dow, of Illinois.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home at Douds.
