DOUDS-Mabel E. Ripley, 95, of Douds Route 1 died at 1:15 p.m. Sept. 5, 1991, at the home of her daughter, Betty Gatlin of Ottumwa.

She was born May 3, 1896, near Kilbourne in Van Buren County to James and Rosetta Adams Milam. She married Clair Ripley on Feb. 1, 1922, in Ottumwa. He died Aug. 30, 1967.

She was a homemaker and lived most of her live in the Selma and Douds areas. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Douds and United Methodist Women.

She is survived by four sons, Henry of Perry, Clair Jr. of Glendale, Ariz, James of Charleston, S.C., and Donald of Millington, Tenn.; six daughters, Ida Levis of Allerton, Beulah Keast of St. Catherine's, Ontario, Canada, Darlene Bradfield of Agency and Rosetta Wright, Ann Fowler and Betty Gatlin of Ottumwa; 45 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, George and Robert; three brothers and a sister.

The service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, the Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Burial will be Iowaville Cemetery west of Selma.

Visitation is open at noon Sunday at the funeral home. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to her church.
